How to install FormScanner on a Linux System

The correct procedure to install FormScanner on a Linux like system is:

  1. Download the binaries from
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/formscanner/files/0.10.0/formscanner-0.10.0-bin.tar.gz
  2. Extract the archive
  3. Open a terminal
  4. Go to [FORMSCANNER_HOME] folder
  5. Run the command
     ./configure.sh
  6. Go to [FORMSCANNER_HOME]/bin folder and run the command
     ./run.sh

otherwise

  1. Type this command
     [JAVA_HOME]/bin/java -jar -DFormScanner_HOME=[FORMSCANNER _HOME] -DFormScanner_VERSION=0.10.0 [FORMSCANNER_HOME]/lib/formscanner-main-0.10.0.jar

where

[JAVA_HOME] is the Java intallation directory (not necessary if JAVA_HOME is in the PATH evironment variable)
[FORMSCANNER_HOME] is the FormScanner installation directory (where you have extract the archive)

If you are using a diffent version you have to replace 0.10.0 with the number of the version you are using.
